Adani Ports Receives Accolades For Leading Climate Action & ESG Practices

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) has garnered global recognition from CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) for its steadfast commitment to combating climate change and implementing exemplary Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices throughout its supply chain.

CDP, a renowned non-profit organization, has awarded APSEZ a prestigious “A-” rating in both climate change and supplier engagement categories, underscoring its leadership in sustainability initiatives.

The Adani Group company achieved the highest rating of “A” for its efforts in emission reduction, climate governance, supplier engagement, Scope 3 emissions management, and risk mitigation strategies.

APSEZ CEO Ashwini Gupta Champions Sustainability & Net Zero Emissions Goals

Ashwini Gupta, CEO of APSEZ, emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainability, highlighting their efforts in reducing carbon emissions.

He expressed satisfaction with APSEZ’s advancing ESG performance and the acknowledgment of their climate leadership by ESG rating agencies.

Gupta outlined APSEZ’s future objectives, emphasizing, “Our next aim is to achieve net zero emissions by 2040, leveraging expanded renewable energy capacity and sustainable transportation initiatives.”

FICCI jointly hosted the ‘Climate Action in India: Role of Businesses & Supply Chain’ event in New Delhi, where they presented the accolade.

In addition to the CDP recognition, APSEZ is nearing the status of negligible ESG risk, scoring 11.3 on Sustainalytics’ scale, just shy of the 0-10 band reserved for companies with minimal ESG risks.

Among the 16,215 companies evaluated globally by Sustainalytics, APSEZ stands in the 95th percentile.

APSEZ has also maintained its leadership position in the low-carbon transition within the port sector and secured a notable place in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) 2023, ranking in the top 15 globally.

Notably, APSEZ is recognized as the sole port operator among 334 entities in the Global Transportation Infrastructure sector to feature prominently in this prestigious list.

The recognition underscores APSEZ’s commitment to sustainable practices and its role as a leader in driving environmental stewardship and corporate responsibility within the global business landscape.
