Adani Ports Breaks Ground On Major Logistics Hub In Kochi

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd (APSEZ) on Saturday began work on the Adani Logistics Park at Kalamassery, inaugurated by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The project, spread across 70 acres, is part of the ‘Invest in Kerala’ initiative and carries an investment commitment of more than Rs 600 crore.

The facility will include electric vehicle charging points, smart logistics systems, and advanced digital integration, with a strong focus on sustainable practices and innovation.

According to the company, the development will likely create over 1,500 jobs, boosting local employment, skills training, and small business participation within the supply chain.

Ashwani Gupta, Whole-Time Director and CEO of APSEZ, stated, “The Kalamassery Logistics Park marks a significant milestone in APSEZ’s transformation from a ports-focused enterprise into a fully integrated transport and logistics business. As one of our largest efforts in this direction, the Park will play a pivotal role in strengthening our logistics presence in southern India, supporting local manufacturing and regional growth.”

He further added, “We remain committed to building world-class infrastructure that advances sustainability, connectivity, and national progress.”

The project is likely to play a key role in positioning Kerala as a logistics and industrial hub.

Located in Kochi, which is rapidly emerging as a centre for industrial and logistics activity, the park is designed to lower transport costs, support just-in-time supply chains, and improve export competitiveness in areas such as e-commerce, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and retail.

Government’s View

State Law, Industries and Coir Minister, P Rajeeve noted, “The Kalamassery Logistics Park reflects APSEZ’s vision for smart, sustainable infrastructure that drives trade, empowers communities, and connects markets. More than a logistics hub, it is a catalyst for inclusive growth and regional transformation.”

As APSEZ’s first logistics park in Kochi, the facility will deliver a fully digital experience from entry to invoicing, ensuring touch-free operations, transparency, and real-time supply chain visibility.

Adani Ports, part of the diversified Adani Group, is India’s largest port developer and operator, handling 28 per cent of the country’s total port traffic.
