Adani Partners With PGTI To Launch Professional Golf Championship

The Adani Group has entered Indian professional golf with the launch of the ‘Adani Invitational Golf Championship 2025’.

It has introduced the tournament in partnership with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the governing body for men’s professional golf in the country.

According to a press release from the group, this initiative aims to make golf more accessible, establish it as a mainstream sport, and nurture future Indian champions with global potential.

The first edition of the tournament, featuring a prize purse of ₹1.5 crore, is from 1 to 4 April 2025 at the Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort in Greater Noida.

This marks PGTI’s return to the venue after more than a decade.

Speaking on the launch, Pranav Adani, Director at Adani Enterprises, said the group is proud to partner with Kapil Dev and PGTI.

He further stated, “We are delighted to join hands with Kapil Dev Ji and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) to contribute to the growth of Indian professional golf. Our goal is to cultivate Indian global champions in golf. We are committed to enhancing accessibility to golf, promoting greater participation and offering world-class training and playing opportunities.”

Kapil Dev Hails Adani’s Support

PGTI President and cricket legend Kapil Dev expressed gratitude to the Adani Group for backing the championship.

“The backing of the Adani Group, one of the world’s biggest business houses, will help the PGTI produce more champion golfers from India who will make the country proud on the international stage. I expect to see golf fans in big numbers following their favourite players on the course during the tournament,” he further asserted.

Calling the event a landmark for Indian golf, PGTI CEO Amandeep Johl said the Adani Invitational would elevate the stature of the Tour.

“This association will raise the stature of the Tour. We thank the Adani Group, our title sponsors, for sharing PGTI’s vision of creating more playing opportunities for Indian professionals. With an attractive prize purse, outstanding playing conditions at the Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort, and a top-notch field vying for the title, one can expect a spectacular week of golfing action at the eagerly awaited Adani Invitational Golf Championship 2025,” he further noted.

Ahead of the main event, a pre-tournament gathering will take place on 29 March 2025 at The Belvedere Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad.

As part of the program, five top PGTI professionals will host a golf clinic for 50 students from the Adani International School.

Kapil Dev will likely attend the Ahmedabad event, where the shared vision of Adani and PGTI to strengthen Indian golf will be in focus.

The collaboration also includes the launch of a joint golf academy at Belvedere Golf & Country Club.

The initiative reflects Adani’s support for grassroots sports and aligns with India’s ambitions for the 2036 Olympics.
