Adani Group Denies Any Collaboration Talks With Chinese Companies BYD And Welion

The Adani Group on Monday strongly refuted a Bloomberg report that claimed the conglomerate was exploring a tie-up with Chinese firms BYD Co and Beijing Welion New Energy Technology.

In a formal statement, an Adani spokesperson dismissed the report as ‘baseless, inaccurate, and misleading’.

“We categorically deny Bloomberg’s report on 4 August 2025 suggesting a tie-up between the Adani Group and Chinese companies BYD and Beijing Welion,” the spokesperson said.

The media report alleged that the Adani Group was in talks with Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD to manufacture batteries in India, as part of its clean energy push.

However, the spokesperson made it clear that “The Adani Group is not exploring any form of collaboration with BYD for battery manufacturing in India.”

The company also denied any engagement with Beijing Welion New Energy Technology, stating it is “not in any form of partnership discussion” with the Chinese battery tech firm.

While quashing the rumours, the Adani Group reaffirmed its commitment to a $100 billion capital expenditure plan over the next five years — a move described as unprecedented in India’s private sector.

The Group currently operates India’s most integrated energy network, covering thermal and renewable generation, battery storage, hydrogen mobility, EV infrastructure, and mining, among others.

Beyond energy, Adani is a major player in cement, aerospace and defence, data centres, and real estate, and holds the position of India’s second-largest cement producer.
