Adani Green Energy Crosses 12,000 MW Milestone With New Solar Capacity At Khavda

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), India’s leading renewable energy company, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 12,000 megawatts (MW) of operational capacity.

This was made possible with the addition of a 275 MW solar installation at Khavda in Gujarat, home to the world’s largest renewable energy project.

AGEL is the first renewable energy company in India to reach this scale, with its total capacity now standing at 12,258.1 MW.

This includes 8,347.5 MW of solar, 1,651 MW of wind, and 2,259.6 MW of wind-solar hybrid energy.

Commitment To Clean Energy

The company noted, “The milestone underscores AGEL’s commitment to deliver 50,000 MW of clean, affordable and reliable power by 2030. The 12,258.1 MW operational portfolio will power more than 6.2 million homes and avoid about 22.64 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. The emissions avoided are equivalent to carbon sequestrated by 1,078 million trees.”

AGEL’s contribution accounts for about 10% of India’s total installed utility-scale solar and wind capacity and over 13% of its utility-scale solar installations.

The company is also leading India’s largest greenfield renewable energy expansion.

Additionally, the company is developing the world’s largest renewable energy project in Khavda, Gujarat, with a planned capacity of 30,000 MW.

Spanning 538 square kilometers – an area nearly as large as Mumbai and five times the size of Paris – the project will be the largest power plant across all energy sources upon completion.

So far, AGEL has operationalized 2,824.1 MW at Khavda.

The company emphasized that the rapid pace of work at the site is part of India’s broader goal to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Adani Infra, Adani New Industries Limited, Adani Infrastructure Management Services, and strategic supply chain partners play a key role in driving AGEL’s progress.

The company further noted that its record-breaking expansion in the renewable sector will continue to drive growth in India’s clean energy transition.
