The Adani Foundation organized awareness programs in urban slums of Varanasi under the Fortune Nutrition Project. The initiative coincided with Global Hand Washing Day and World Food Day, held on October 15 and 16.
In Newada, Sundarpur, Badi Patia, Khojwa, and other areas, the foundation educated pregnant and lactating mothers, along with men, about the significance of handwashing. Dr. Anjana Saxena discussed the importance of a balanced diet during pregnancy, highlighting local sources of nutrients. Principal Suman Pandey emphasized handwashing’s role in children’s health.
Nutrition Officer Mamta Yadav shared insights on hand hygiene and safe cooking methods. The program also included cooking demonstrations that taught adolescent girls how to maintain hygiene during menstruation. Anganwadi workers Kamala Devi and Anita Devi, along with nutrition companions like Preeti Maurya, Rita Devi, and Pushpa Devi, participated in the initiative, enhancing community engagement in health and nutrition.
