Adani Enterprises To Divest 50% Stake In Copper Subsidiary; Partners With MetTube To Boost India’s Self-Reliance

In a strategic move to strengthen India’s self-reliance in copper tube manufacturing, Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) has signed Share Purchase and Shareholders Agreements with MetTube Mauritius Private Limited.

The agreement involves Adani divesting a 50 per cent stake in its wholly owned subsidiary, Kutch Copper Tubes Limited (KCTL), to MetTube, and investing equally in MetTube Copper India Private Limited.

This dual investment structure ensures equal ownership and shared governance between the two companies.

The collaboration will likely deliver next-generation solutions in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) industry through advanced, energy-efficient copper tube manufacturing.

The partnership, however, aims to cut India’s reliance on imported copper tubes and foster a robust domestic ecosystem.

MetTube, part of the Metdist Group, brings decades of experience in high-performance copper tube manufacturing.

Adani has already developed advanced infrastructure in Mundra, Gujarat, where KCTL operates a greenfield copper tube facility.

Jeet Adani, Whole Time Director of Adani Group, said, “This partnership is a strategic leap towards making India self-reliant in copper tube manufacturing. It aligns with our ‘Make in India’ vision and leverages Adani’s infrastructure with MetTube’s global expertise.”

High-Performance Copper Tubes For Green Infrastructure

Apurv Bagri, Chairman of Metdist Group, noted that this partnership will likely deliver international-standard Inner Grooved copper tubes, supporting India’s transition to energy-efficient, climate-responsive infrastructure.

The tubes will be used across critical sectors such as air conditioning, refrigeration, and plumbing, where demand is rising due to urbanisation and green construction needs.

The alliance will also benefit from Adani’s 0.5 MTPA copper refinery in Mundra, creating a forward-integrated copper ecosystem.

The collaboration between Adani and MetTube marks a significant step in sustainable innovation and will play a key role in achieving India’s green infrastructure goals.

Adani Enterprises, the flagship of the Adani Group, continues to focus on emerging infrastructure businesses that contribute to nation-building and sustainability.

The group, however, plans to develop this copper tube venture into a globally benchmarked operation, aligned with India’s long-term industrial and environmental goals.
