Adani Energy Solutions Wins Rs 4,700 Crore Maharashtra Transmission Project

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has secured a ₹4,700 crore transmission project in Maharashtra to evacuate 4,500 MW of renewable energy generated in Karnataka to major load centres in the state.

The project will support the growing pumped storage ecosystem across Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

AESL emerged as the lowest bidder in the tariff-based competitive bidding process.

The project, housed under the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Satara Power Transmission Ltd, is expected to be completed within 36 months.

The Satara transmission project will strengthen power flows between southern and western India while supporting renewable energy evacuation and energy storage deployment. It will, however, add 562 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s network.

The project includes a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, a Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line and augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station, along with associated infrastructure.

Adani Energy Solutions CEO Kandarp Patel said pumped storage projects are becoming an important part of India’s clean energy transition by providing the flexibility and reliability needed to integrate large-scale renewable power into the grid.

The project will take AESL’s cumulative transmission network to 29,739 circuit kilometres and its transformation capacity to 1,43,425 MVA.

The company said the investment will help strengthen grid stability and enable the expansion of renewable energy.

The project comes as India advances towards its target of installing 500 GW of non-fossil energy capacity by 2030.

AESL is developing transmission infrastructure to connect renewable energy sources, including solar, wind and pumped storage, with major industrial and urban centres across the country.
