Adani Defence Supplies First Batch Of Indigenous LMGs To Armed Forces

Adani Defence and Aerospace on Saturday handed over the first consignment of 2,000 Prahar Light Machine Guns to the Indian Armed Forces, marking a key step in domestic defence production.

Manufacturing of the 7.62 mm-calibre weapons took place at the Small Arms Complex near Gwalior.

Chief Executive Officer Ashish Rajvanshi described the delivery as a major moment for the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

“We have been given seven years by the customer to deliver 41,000 LMGs, but at the speed and pace at which the team is working, we are going to deliver this in less than three years to the Indian Armed Forces,” he stated.

Ashish Rajvanshi further asserted, “With the delivery of the first 2,000 LMGs, we are very confident that every month, we are going to produce 1,000 LMGs, which is unprecedented.”

Senior officials attended the rollout event, where A Anbarasu flagged off trucks carrying the weapons for deployment.

Rajvanshi said the project reflects the broader push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing, noting that access to foundational technology through partnerships played a crucial role.

“It has taken us six years to reach this point. We can proudly say that we have moved from being a component manufacturer to a full-gun OEM in these five years,” he further noted.

Officials further highlighted that the development demonstrates the growing capability of the domestic industry to execute large-scale defence contracts within tight timelines.

Anbarasu said the delivery underlines the ability to accelerate production and meet operational requirements efficiently, reinforcing confidence in indigenous manufacturing under the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ vision.
