40 Unicorn Startups To Meet With Goyal Tomorrow

On Wednesday, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will meet with senior executives from 40 unicorn startups including Lenskart, Zerodha, and Boat.

In a statement, the official stated, “Issues that will figure in the deliberations include ways to further promote sustainable growth of the sector, risks, domestic capital mobilization, and position India on the global startup landscape”.

‘Unicorn’ is used for startups worth more than $1 billion.

The official went on to say, “Unicorns from different sectors and cities will be there. The sectors which would see participation include fintech, e-commerce, and logistics”.

CarDekho and EasyMy Trip are among the other companies expected to attend the summit.

The government has made several initiatives to foster the country’s startup ecosystem.

The government has recognized approximately 1.17 lakh startups. They are qualified for specific tax breaks.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Startup India initiative on 16th January 2016, intending to create a robust ecosystem for nurturing innovation, supporting entrepreneurs, and attracting investments in the country’s startup ecosystem.
