Pulwama Widows Row: Congress Govt. On Back Foot Amidst Sachin Pilot’s Batting On BJP’s Political Pitch

Before the Rajasthan assembly elections, Sachin Pilot, who came out to bat on BJP’s political pitch, himself put his own government on the back foot. For 12 days, the wives of the martyrs of Pulwama are protesting with their demands. Meanwhile, BJP is supporting their demands for political gain but Pilot also chose to support them owing to his cold war with Ashok Gehlot.

Here’s the whole story

Among 40 soldiers who were martyred in the Pulwama attack, five were from Rajasthan and Ashok Gehlot had announced the Kargil package for the dependents of the martyrs.

On February 28, the wives of the martyrs of Pulwama started an agitation accusing the government of going against its promises. BJP MP Kirori Lal Meena was sitting on dharna with him from the first day at Shaheed Smarak.

Pilot supported the widows

On March 06, the widows of the martyrs sitting on the dharna met Sachin Pilot and accused the Congress government of not fulfilling its promises. Listening to their demands and allegations, congress leader Sachin Pilot also supported them and ensured that if there is a legal obstacle in fulfilling the demands, it can be rectified.

The next day, two ministers of the government, Pratap Singh and Shankutla Rawat met the women sitting on the dharna and assured them to accept their demands.

CM Gehlot’s tweet

Ahead of Pilot’s promises, on the same day, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot made it clear through his tweet that he will not accept such demands which are not correct. Basically, after two statues were installed, the widow of a martyr was demanding a third statue to be installed at a crossroads and she was seeking a job for her brother-in-law as a dependent.

Experts on this matter

According to the experts, Ashok Gehlot is right in this matter. The attempt to change the law to give jobs to the brother instead of the child in the martyr’s dependents will create a new political ruckus within the entire nation. In such a situation, if such a movement starts in the BJP-ruled states, the governments will be seen standing on the back foot.

Sachin Pilot intends to crash Congress!

Everyone is aware of the political rivalry between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot in the Rajasthan government. However, before the upcoming assembly elections, the way Pilot is batting against his own government by pitching BJP, can harm Congress politically. The desire for power for himself can turn the political land of the Congress into a quagmire.
