(Express Editorial) How fake are the Deepfakes?

”How real are the deepfakes?” is not the question here rather the question is -”How fake are the deepfakes?”

Even if the similarity is there, the deepfakes are still fake in comparison with the reality. When reality is acceptable why ain’t the fake?

Rashmika Mandana’s deepfake video has sparked the controversy again after a gap of around two years. In 2021 also they were the root-cause of social arguments being considered to harmful for privacy. If deepfakes are harmful to privacy of people, what about nudity? Why so hue and cry now when we are existing in a so called modern world!

In an age where torn jeans and tiny & tight apparels are fashion trend, who seems to be worried about such fashionable nudity! If you oppose nudity you are branded with a backward mentality. Then why this hippocrisy!

Deep-neck clothes or no-neck clothes, every thing is in vogue. Wearing clothes is considered backward where not-wearing is progressive fashionablism. When nudity is real, the deepfake is always fake.

Lets be honest, if we cannot criticize nudity, being shocked about AI nudity is nothing but hypocrisy. It’s time now we corrected the basics of a civic society. You can accept lies as the daily basis reality but not the nudity!

The twenty first century’s answer to Photoshopping is called deepfake. Using a form of artificial intelligence images are created and they are called deepfakes. It is worrying since its use in porno-world is horrifying. This is where the global society has to limit nudity and oppose it en toto.

When Western world is not ashamed of real nude pics in open public domain, what kind of difference should it make to the people the nudity is in video form. Many would say semi nudity or partial nudity should be acceptable. They say, the dirt is not in the pic or what you see, dirt is in your mind!

Not only the deepfakes but other dimensions of deepfakes also require to be opposed. The vulgarity, nudity, abuses, pornography are all a form of deepfakes. If not banned at least let us all draw a limiting line for them so they do not hurt civic human life.

If the nudity is in vogue and if it is a trait of progressiveness, then deepfakes obviously gets acceptable. Now selected nudity will be too diplomatic to be acceptable in the so called progressive society today. Let us be realistic for real!
