Zelensky Holds Military Cabinet Meeting In Kharkiv Ahead Of US Talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky chaired a meeting of his military cabinet in Kharkiv on March 23, 2025, to discuss critical issues related to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The meeting primarily focused on the current situation along key frontlines, including Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy, as well as military operations in the Kursk region.

These updates were provided by high-ranking Ukrainian officials, including Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov.

Preparations For Peace Talks In Saudi Arabia

The military cabinet meeting also set the stage for an important diplomatic engagement scheduled for March 24 in Saudi Arabia.

Zelensky highlighted the preparations for a peace talk between Ukrainian and US officials, where key topics would include the potential for a ceasefire and further coordination toward peace efforts.

The discussions in Saudi Arabia follow a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which led to a partial ceasefire agreement on energy infrastructure strikes.

The meeting in Kharkiv came at a pivotal time, as Zelensky and his advisors are working on resolving technical details surrounding the ceasefire, with a focus on stabilizing the conflict and mitigating the impact on both Ukrainian and Russian civilian infrastructure.

Zelensky also mentioned that Ukraine plans to compile a list of energy and infrastructure sites, urging Russia to cease attacking them as part of ongoing peace negotiations.

US-Russia Delegations To Meet In Riyadh

Earlier, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz confirmed that Russian and American delegations would meet in Riyadh on March 24, 2025, to continue their discussions regarding a potential ceasefire in Ukraine.

These talks aim to build upon previous efforts, with the goal of securing a lasting peace agreement.

The Ukrainian delegation will include key figures such as Zelensky’s Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak and Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

The atmosphere in Kharkiv during this cabinet meeting was focused on both military strategy and diplomacy, with Zelensky expressing optimism about the upcoming talks in Saudi Arabia.

The outcome of these discussions could significantly impact the future trajectory of the conflict in Ukraine and international efforts to broker peace.

As both delegations prepare for their meeting, the next few days will be crucial in shaping the path toward peace.

The outcome of these talks will also have implications for broader international relations, particularly the role of the US and other global powers in resolving the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
