Zelensky Accuses Russia Of Using Foreign Mercenaries; Pakistan And China Deny Involvement

As the ongoing war with Russia has continued since February 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky claimed mercenaries from various countries are fighting for Russia.

On Monday, President Zelensky said that Ukrainian troops in northeastern Ukraine were fighting against the foreign mercenaries from various countries, including China, Pakistan, and parts of Africa.

After visiting the frontline area in the northeastern Kharkiv region and vowing a response, Zelensky wrote on X, “Our warriors in this sector are reporting the participation of mercenaries from China, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and African countries in the war. We will respond.”

However, Pakistan rejects these claims, saying the allegations are baseless. In a statement, the Government of Pakistan categorically rejected the claims, calling them ‘baseless and unfounded allegations’.

China Denied Accusations

Additionally, Zelensky has previously alleged Moscow of hiring Chinese fighters for its war effort against Ukraine, which Beijing denied.

Zelensky stated in April that ‘several hundred’ Chinese nationals were taking part in the war on Russia’s side.

One detainee reportedly paid a middleman 300,000 rubles (about $3,500) to enlist in exchange for Russian citizenship.

China has denied involvement, claiming it urges its citizens to avoid armed conflicts.

Be Careful: Russia’s Stark Warning to Trump

Although Russia did not comment on the Ukrainian accusations. However, responding to US President Trump’s statement, it said, Everyone should be ‘very, very careful’ about the nuclear rhetoric.

“We are very careful about any statements related to nuclear issues. And, of course, we believe that everyone should be very, very careful with nuclear rhetoric,” said Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

Trump had earlier ordered to repositioning of US nuclear submarines after the Russian President’s remarks, which seemingly triggered him.

Trump said on Friday he had ordered two nuclear submarines to be moved to ‘the appropriate regions’, responding to Dmitri Medvedev’s remark about the risk of war between the two adversaries.
