World Hindi Day 2023: Vishwa Hindi Divas With Making Hindi Language of Indian Hearts

World Hindi Day 2023: Vishwa Hindi Divas is celebrated every year on 10 January. Various programs are organized on this day to raise awareness of Hindi language all over the world. At the same time, every year some theme is also decided for this. This time ‘Making Hindi the language of Indian Hearts, to symbolizes its importance’ has been made the theme of Hindi Day this year.

It is said about Hindi that it is the third most spoken language in the world and more than 26 crore people in the country and the world have adopted this language. Its importance in India can be gauged from the fact that it is the official language of the Government of India and it is the dominant language in North India.

Indira Gandhi and World Hindi Day

In the year 1975, the Former Prime Minister of India Mrs. Indira Gandhi inaugurated the first World Hindi Conference. After that, a campaign to promote Hindi started. For the promotion of Hindi, World Hindi Conference was organized in many countries including India, United Kingdom, Mauritius, United States of America, Trinidad and Tobago.

While enlarging its size, Vishwa Hindi Divas was celebrated for the first time on January 10, 2006. After this, considering the number of Hindi-speaking people and its importance, World Hindi Day was celebrated every year on January 10 to spread it.

What is the difference between National and International Hindi Day

National Hindi Day is also celebrated on 14 September. In such  situation, there is confusion among the people about Hindi Day. But Hindi Diwas celebrated in the country focuses on its importance in a vast Hindi speaking country like India. At the same time, International Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January. It focuses on the spread of Hindi across the world.

Many types of programs are organized on the occasion of Hindi Day in the country. Hindi literature and Hindi language are discussed in these programmes. On behalf of the Central and State Governments, on the occasion of Hindi Day, Hindi litterateurs and those who have made their special contribution in its dissemination are honored.
