US military plane crashes during training in Mediterranean

The US European Command (EUCOM) claimed Saturday that an American military plane crashed following a mishap during training in the eastern Mediterranean.

The sort of plane or where it was flying from was not specified, but the US has deployed a carrier strike group to the area as part of measures to prevent the Israel-Hamas crisis from escalating into a regional conflict.

“On the evening of November 10, a US military aircraft conducting training operations in the eastern Mediterranean suffered a mishap and went down”, EUCOM said in a statement that didn’t say anything about the crew’s fate.

“We can definitively say that the aircraft sortie was purely related to training and there are no indications of hostile activity”, the statement reads.

It went on to say, “The cause of the training incident is currently under investigation”.

After the Hamas group carried out a shocking cross-border attack from Gaza on October 7, Israeli officials say 1,200 people were killed. Washington rushed military aid to Israel and bolstered its forces in the region, including the USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier and other warships.

Israel’s military replied with a relentless air, ground, and naval assault on Gaza, killing more than 11,000 Palestinians, according to the territory’s health ministry.
