US Airstrikes Kill 6, Injured 13 On Outskirts Of Yemen’s Capital

Fresh US airstrikes on the outskirts of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, have killed six people and injured 13 others, according to Houthi-run health authorities.

US Airstrikes Hit Ceramic Factory In Bani Matar

US warplanes launched strikes on a ceramic factory in the Bani Matar district, located on the western edge of Sanaa.

Residents and local health officials confirmed the attack, reporting that the sound of fighter jets echoed across the city before and after the explosions.

Additional Strikes Target Northern Provinces

In addition to the strike near Sanaa, US aircraft carried out two more airstrikes in the northern provinces of Marib and Al-Jawf, as reported by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV.

These latest strikes bring the total number of US air raids across northern Yemen on Sunday to 25.

Houthis Launch Attacks On Israeli Targets

Earlier in the day, the Houthi group claimed responsibility for three airstrikes on Israeli targets.

The group said it targeted the Sdot Micha military base, Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel, and a ‘vital target’ in the Ashkelon area in the south.

Israel’s military responded by stating that its air defense systems ‘likely intercepted’ a missile launched from Yemen before it could enter Israeli airspace.

Tensions Escalate Amid Renewed US Military Campaign

Tensions have intensified between the Houthi movement and the United States, as well as its ally Israel, especially since March 15, when the US resumed airstrikes on Houthi targets.

Washington has stated that the renewed campaign aims to deter the group from targeting US and Israeli interests in the region.

Despite the increased air raids, Houthi forces continue their operations. On Saturday, the group issued a stern warning against any future US-led ground campaign in Yemen, vowing to respond with ‘hell’.

Local Yemeni media outlets have reported that the US may be planning to support Yemeni government forces in a ground offensive to recapture Sanaa and other areas currently under Houthi control.

Houthis Justify Attacks As Support For Gaza

The Houthis, who maintain control over large parts of northern Yemen, have been launching attacks on Israeli targets since November 2023.

The group says its actions are a show of solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

They have also stated they will cease operations if Israel ends its military campaign in Gaza and allows humanitarian aid into the enclave.
