Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh Represents India At The Gaza Peace Summit In Sharm El-Sheikh

Union Minister Kirti Vardhan Singh has reached Cairo as India’s official representative to participate in the Gaza Peace Summit being held in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Taking to X, the Minister posted, “Arrived in the historic city of Cairo as special representative of Prime Minister @narendramodi to attend the Gaza Peace Summit at Sharm el-Sheikh.”

Singh’s presence underscores India’s support for diplomatic efforts aimed at securing a long-term ceasefire and restoring stability in the region following months of conflict in Gaza.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier welcomed the agreement on the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan between Israel and Hamas.

In a post on X, he said, “Called my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Reaffirmed that terrorism in any form or manifestation is unacceptable anywhere in the world.”

The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect India’s consistent position advocating dialogue, restraint, and the pursuit of durable peace in the Middle East.

Summit Details and International Participation

The Egyptian Presidency announced that the summit will take place in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday.

The high-level meeting, co-chaired by President El-Sisi and President Trump, will bring together leaders from over 20 countries.

The objective is to consolidate the ceasefire, facilitate humanitarian aid, and outline a framework for regional security and post-conflict reconstruction.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres is also scheduled to attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit for Peace.

A statement from his office confirmed that he will participate in the discussions on Monday and return to New York by Wednesday.

The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, brokered through intense negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh, has come into effect with mediation from Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, and the United States.

The first phase of the plan involves Israeli troop withdrawals from Gaza City, Rafah, Khan Younis, and northern Gaza. It also includes opening five crossings for humanitarian aid and implementing prisoner and hostage exchanges.

A Hamas official said the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt will reopen in the middle of next week to allow limited civilian movement, though officials are still finalising operational details.

The Gaza Peace Summit marks a crucial moment in diplomatic efforts to end prolonged hostilities and restore normalcy in the Middle East.

With global leaders, including India’s representative, participating in the talks, the summit aims to establish a durable peace framework that balances humanitarian needs with long-term security objectives.

India’s engagement reflects its broader commitment to promoting peace, dialogue, and development in regions affected by conflict — principles that remain at the heart of its foreign policy.
