Ukraine Shoots Down Russian Missiles And Drones In Capital Kyiv

Ukraine’s air force said Sunday that it fired down three cruise missiles and eight attack drones launched by Moscow’s forces overnight, in what was Russia’s first attack on Kyiv in 12 days.

Ukraine’s air force claimed to have destroyed all air targets — eight Iranian drones and three Kalibr cruise missiles.

According to the statement released by the air force, “Eight Shaheds were launched from the southeast, and three Kalibr missiles were launched from the Black Sea”.

The head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Ruslan Kravchenko said, “Three private houses were damaged by falling debris in the Kyiv region”.

Kravchenko also stated that a man had a leg injury.

After appealing to Western allies for increased air defence capabilities, Ukraine has proven increasingly competent at destroying waves of Russian cruise missiles and drones.

Kyiv, which had been largely unscathed since the beginning of the year, was subjected to repeated overnight aerial bombing in May.
