Several top Ukrainian officials, including six Cabinet members, have resigned ahead of an anticipated major government reshuffle. The resignations have left key government positions, including the Strategic Industries Minister responsible for weapons production, vacant.
The ruling Servant of the People party’s parliamentary leader announced that over half of the Cabinet would be replaced this week. This reshuffle comes as Ukraine grapples with ongoing Russian bombardments and struggles to counter Moscow’s advances in the east while also committing resources to its incursion into Russia’s Kursk region.
Among those who resigned on Tuesday are Strategic Industries Minister Alexander Kamyshin, Justice Minister Denys Maliuska, Environmental Protection Minister Ruslan Strilets, Deputy Prime Ministers Olha Stefanishyna and Iryna Vereshchuk, and Vitaliy Koval, head of Ukraine’s State Property Fund. Additionally, President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed one of his senior aides, Rostyslav Shurma, through a presidential decree.

David Arakhamia, the parliamentary leader, confirmed on Telegram that a major government reset would take place this week, with a day of dismissals followed by a day of new appointments.
In his video address, President Zelensky emphasized the need to strengthen the government ahead of his upcoming visit to the US, where he plans to present a “victory plan” to President Joe Biden.
Opposition MP Iryna Gerashchenko criticized the reshuffle, calling for a unity government and an end to Zelensky’s political dominance.
On the same day, a Russian strike on Poltava killed 51 people and injured 271. Zelensky vowed retaliation and reiterated the need for more Western air defenses to protect Ukraine from Russian attacks.
