Ukraine Declares It Is Satisfied With Conflict Talks Led By Saudi Arabia

Ukraine said on Monday that it was satisfied with a weekend summit in Saudi Arabia on a peace settlement to cease conflict, to which Moscow was not invited.

Representatives from over 40 countries attended the peace summit in Jeddah, including China, India, the United States, and Ukraine.

“We are very satisfied with the outcome of the summit”, said Andriy Yermak, the head of Ukraine’s presidential office.

“The meeting in Saudi Arabia is a rehearsal for a world in which there is no place for savage aggression (by Russia)”, Yermak continued.

He further stated that the next meeting had been agreed upon, but there are no exact dates and that even more countries will participate.

He pointed out that a Chinese representative was present at all events.

“There is no reason to doubt that the principle ‘Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine’ is undermining”, he continued.

Russia previously stated that a peace settlement could only be reached if Kyiv laid down its arms.

Russia, which was not invited to the summit, said a resolution was feasible if Ukraine stopped the hostilities and terrorist attacks and Western countries stopped supplying armaments to Kyiv.

It also demanded that Ukraine hand over its occupied territory to Moscow.

“The original foundations of Ukraine’s sovereignty — its neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status — must be confirmed”, said foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a statement.

Over a year into Moscow’s war in Ukraine, Kyiv’s military was launching a long-awaited operation to reclaim occupied territory.
