Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has expressed deep concern over escalating tensions in the region following recent explosions in Lebanon, which he attributes to increased Israeli military actions.
Fidan stated that Israel has begun to “escalate the attacks step by step towards Lebanon,” warning that this provocation could compel responses from Hezbollah and Iran. In an interview with the semi-official Anadolu Agency, he remarked, “We have reached a point where the Israeli operation is becoming more and more provocative.”

The explosions, which occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday, targeted pagers and handheld radios and resulted in the deaths of at least 37 people, with over 2,931 others injured, according to Lebanese officials. Fidan described these incidents as part of Israel’s broader strategy related to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, suggesting that Israel aims to “see Gaza accounts first and then shift to Lebanon.”
In response to the violence, Fidan reached out to Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, offering Turkey’s medical assistance if necessary.
Simultaneously, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant announced that Israel has entered a “new phase” in its conflict with Hezbollah. However, no Israeli officials, including Gallant, have claimed responsibility for the recent explosions, which Hezbollah has attributed to Israeli actions.
As tensions continue to rise, the potential for further escalation in the region remains a significant concern for neighboring countries.
