Former U.S. President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made a return to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, in anticipation of a live interview with X’s owner, Elon Musk. Musk announced that he would be hosting a “live conversation” with Trump at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on August 12.

In preparation for the interview, Trump posted a campaign video on X, marking his first activity on the platform in a significant amount of time. Trump’s account had been permanently banned in 2021 due to concerns about “risk of further incitement of violence” following the events at the U.S. Capitol. However, Elon Musk reinstated Trump’s account upon acquiring X.
