Trump Signals Hormuz Reopening While Maintaining Military Pressure On Iran

US President Donald Trump has stated that Iran has agreed to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, suggesting a possible reduction in tensions in a key global shipping lane. He further stressed that American military measures would remain in place until a comprehensive agreement is formally concluded.

Speaking at an event organised by Turning Point USA in Arizona, Trump described the waterway as ‘fully open and ready for business’, indicating that commercial transit through the corridor could resume without disruption.

Despite this development, Trump made it clear that US naval forces would continue enforcing restrictions on Iran. He noted that the existing blockade would stay operational until negotiations reach full completion and receive official sign-off.

Trump expressed confidence in the progress of diplomatic discussions, stating that most key issues had already reached a resolution. He added that the anticipated agreement would ensure Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons.

In addition, Trump referenced plans to recover what he termed ‘nuclear dust’, describing it as material left behind after earlier US strikes in Iran. He suggested that operations to retrieve this residue could involve excavation efforts and would ultimately bring the material back to the United States.

The US president also connected these developments to wider regional diplomacy. He claimed recent US involvement had contributed to stability beyond Iran, including what he described as a historic ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon.

Trump acknowledged several countries for their role in easing tensions, including Pakistan. He also cited Gulf states such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

The US President also criticised European allies, particularly NATO. He argued that the United States should reduce reliance on traditional partnerships.

President Trump said it should focus more on independent action.

Emphasising American military strength, Trump stated that the US possesses unmatched defence capabilities and should prioritise self-reliance in future conflicts.

Finally, the US President portrayed himself as instrumental in resolving global disputes. He claimed responsibility for ending multiple wars.

Trump also suggested that further agreements involving Iran and Lebanon could increase that number.
