Trump Seeks Global Cooperation To Secure The Strait Of Hormuz As Tensions Escalate

US President Donald Trump said Washington is engaging multiple nations to assist in policing the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital oil transit corridors.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump asserted that recent military actions produced ‘very strong results’. He said the United States now seeks wider international participation to safeguard the strategic waterway.

The President revealed that officials had contacted about seven countries regarding potential maritime cooperation. He said many nations depend far more on the route for energy supplies than the United States.

Trump noted that only a small portion of American oil imports travel through the strait.

By contrast, he said major economies such as China rely heavily on shipments passing through the narrow passage.

The US President, therefore, urged those countries to contribute actively to protecting the shipping lane.

According to Trump, several nations possess naval capabilities that could support patrol operations, including mine sweepers and specialised vessels. He warned that limited hostile activity could severely disrupt maritime trade.

Even a handful of individuals planting naval mines could create significant instability along the corridor.

Trump also claimed that US military strikes had drastically weakened  Iran’s defence capacity. He said American forces had neutralised key elements of Iran’s air force and air defence network while sharply reducing its missile and drone stockpiles.

The President added that US forces targeted infrastructure tied to Iranian energy exports, including facilities near Kharg Island, though some installations remained intact.

Despite escalating hostilities, Trump confirmed that communication channels with Tehran remain open. He, however, suggested that Iranian authorities appear unwilling to engage in meaningful dialogue.

Trump also accused Iran of spreading fabricated wartime imagery using artificial intelligence and criticised domestic media outlets for allegedly circulating misleading reports.
