Trump Confirms Major Combat Operations In Iran; Escalates Conflict

US President Donald Trump confirmed that American forces had launched ‘major combat operations’ in Iran, marking a sharp escalation in hostilities and raising alarms of a broader regional war.

The United States and Israel carried out coordinated strikes on Saturday, significantly heightening tensions across the Middle East.

The development has triggered concerns over geopolitical instability in a region vital to global energy supplies and trade.

In an eight-minute video posted on his Truth Social platform, Donald Trump outlined the rationale behind the military action.

He stated that Washington seeks to protect American citizens by eliminating imminent threats posed by the Iranian regime.

Trump accused Tehran of sustained hostility towards the United States over nearly five decades.

He asserted that the Iranian leadership had repeatedly targeted American troops, overseas bases, and allied nations.

The President characterised Iran as a radical and oppressive dictatorship. He stated that US forces were striking critical military infrastructure.

He claimed American operations were dismantling missile capabilities, destroying production facilities, neutralising naval assets, and curbing the activities of Tehran-backed proxies.

Escalation Across the Middle East

Trump reiterated Washington’s longstanding objective of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

He described this goal as non-negotiable and commended the US armed forces for executing the operation.

Donald Trump acknowledged the inherent risks. He stated that his administration had taken extensive measures to reduce threats to American personnel in the region.

However, he conceded that casualties could occur, noting that conflict inevitably carries such dangers. He described the mission as necessary for long-term security.

While confirming American military engagement, Trump did not explicitly state that the strikes were conducted jointly with Israel.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed that Israel had undertaken strikes and declared an immediate nationwide state of emergency amid the volatile security climate.

The offensive followed a month-long American military build-up in the region.

The deployment intensified after President Donald Trump pledged support for demonstrators challenging the Iranian leadership earlier this year.

In recent weeks, he repeatedly warned Tehran of potential military repercussions should it refuse to abandon its nuclear programme.

The situation remains fluid. Analysts caution that sustained hostilities could destabilise the wider region and generate significant economic repercussions.
