US President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that the United States had conducted precision strikes on three Iranian nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan—marking a significant escalation in Middle East tensions.
In a statement released via his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump confirmed that US forces had dropped a ‘full payload of bombs’ on the Fordow facility, and that all aircraft had safely exited Iranian airspace following the mission.
Praising the US military for what he called a ‘very successful attack’, Trump declared, “There is not another military in the world that could have done this. Now is the time for peace.”
He congratulated the ‘great American warriors’ involved and asserted that the strike was not only a military achievement but also a message to the world.
Trump announced that he would address the nation from the White House at 10:00 PM to provide further details on what he described as a critical step in ensuring global security.
In his online post, he referred to the event as a ‘historic moment for the United States of America, Israel, and the world’, and urged Iran to end its aggression and return to peace talks.
He reiterated, “Iran must now agree to end this war. Thank you!”—underscoring his push for diplomatic resolution following military action.
The announcement follows a week of intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran.
Israeli forces reportedly launched targeted airstrikes on several Iranian nuclear facilities and high-ranking Iranian officials, leading to the destruction of infrastructure and the deaths of multiple Iranian commanders and nuclear scientists.
In retaliation, Iran launched a series of missile and drone attacks on Israeli targets, escalating regional instability and drawing international concern.
Trump’s statement indicates that the United States coordinated its military action with Israeli interests, although current US defence authorities have yet to confirm this officially.
Global leaders are expected to respond to the scale and implications of these strikes in the coming hours.
Trump’s rhetoric, combining military success with a call for peace, marks a strategic pivot amid heightened nuclear tensions in the region.
As the international community watches closely, the next moves from both Iran and global powers may determine whether the region inches toward diplomacy or deeper conflict.
