Taiwan: 6 Chinese Aircraft, 6 Naval Vessels Detected Around Nation

Taiwan on Friday said it detected 6 Chinese military aircraft and 6 naval vessels operating around the nation. It was between 6 am on Thursday to 6 am on Friday.

According to the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence, 5 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait.

The aircraft also entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern Air Defence Identification Zone.

The Armed Forces have monitored the situation and responded to the activities.

Taking to X, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence said, “We detected 6 PLA aircraft and 6 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 5 of the aircraft crossed the median line and entered Taiwan’s northern and southwestern ADIZ. We have monitored the situation and responded to the activities.”

Earlier on Thursday, Taiwan said it detected 18 Chinese military aircraft and 5 naval vessels operating around the nation. It was between 6 am on Wednesday to 6 am on Thursday.

According to the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence, 12 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait.

The aircraft also entered Taiwan’s SW Air Defence Identification Zone.

The Armed Forces have monitored the situation and employed appropriate forces to respond.

Taking to X, the Taiwan Ministry of National Defence said, “18 PLA aircraft and 5 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. today. 12 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s SW ADIZ. #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and employed appropriate forces to respond.”

Since September 2020, China has increased its use of gray zone tactics. This includes incrementally increasing the number of military aircraft and naval ships operating around Taiwan.
