Taiwan on Wednesday said that it tracked 10 Chinese military aircraft and 7 naval vessels operating around the nation. It was between 6 am on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday.
Taiwan also tracked 1 Chinese balloon crossing the median line 115 km northwest of Keelung at 8:03 am (local time).
The balloon travelled northeast and disappeared at 8:50 am (local time).
Taking to X, Taiwan Ministry of National Defence said, “10 PLA aircraft and 7 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. today. 6 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s SW ADIZ. #ROCArmedForces have monitored the situation and employed appropriate forces to respond.”
In response to Chinese activity, Taiwan sent aircraft, naval ships and deployed air defence missile systems to monitor the situation.
Earlier on 9 April, Taiwan detected 7 Chinese military aircraft and 5 naval vessels around the nation. It was between 6 am on Monday to 6 am on Tuesday.
Taking to X, Taiwan Ministry of National Defence said, “7 PLA aircraft and 5 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6 a.m. (UTC+8) today. 4 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entered Taiwan’s SW and eastern ADIZ.”
So far in April, Taiwan has detected Chinese military aircraft 57 times and naval vessels 57 times.
Since September 2020, China has increased its use of gray zone tactics by incrementally increasing the number of military aircraft and naval ships operating around Taiwan.
