South Korean President Lee Jae Myung Meets Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung met Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman during a two-day visit to San Francisco, underscoring Seoul’s drive to accelerate artificial intelligence development through global partnerships.

The meetings focused on expanding cooperation in AI innovation, attracting foreign investment and encouraging leading technology companies to play a greater role in South Korea’s growing AI ecosystem.

Lee also held discussions with executives from other major AI firms to explore collaboration in advanced computing, semiconductor technology and AI research.

Highlighting South Korea’s ambition to become a leading AI hub, Lee emphasised strategic investment, cutting-edge semiconductor capabilities and a skilled workforce as the country’s key strengths. He invited global technology companies to participate in South Korea’s AI initiatives, describing international collaboration as essential to building a competitive AI industry.

Industry experts believe stronger partnerships with companies such as Nvidia and OpenAI could accelerate AI adoption across sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, education and public services.

Greater collaboration in AI chips, cloud computing and generative AI is also expected to strengthen South Korea’s position in the increasingly competitive global technology landscape.

Lee’s meetings with top technology executives reflect Seoul’s broader strategy of combining government support with private-sector innovation to establish South Korea as a global centre for AI development.

The visit also signals the country’s determination to compete with other major economies investing heavily in next-generation artificial intelligence technologies.
