Slovakia has backed India’s bid for a permanent seat at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The announcement came during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit to Slovakia.
This is the first visit by an Indian head of state in nearly 30 years.
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini said, “Slovakia is prepared to fully support India’s bid.”
The support highlights growing diplomatic ties between the two countries.
President Murmu thanked Slovakia for its help during the Ukraine crisis.
Slovakia had assisted in evacuating Indian students. She called it a sign of true friendship.
Murmu said India and Slovakia share democratic values and a global outlook.

Both sides agreed to work together in areas like trade, defence, science, and space.
They also discussed cooperation in nuclear energy, digital tech, and culture.
Trade between the two countries has grown fast. It has tripled in the last five years, reaching EUR 1.3 billion. Indian investment is rising, led by the Jaguar Land Rover plant in Nitra.
Two agreements were signed. One is for the exchange of diplomats. The other supports small and medium businesses.
President Pellegrini welcomed the growing Indian interest in Slovakia.
On Thursday, both leaders will open the India-Slovak Business Forum. They will also visit the Jaguar Land Rover plant.
President Murmu’s visit shows stronger India-Slovakia relations, with more cooperation expected in the future.
