Shohini Sinha, An Indian-American, To Head FBI’s Field Office In Salt Lake City

Shohini Sinha, an Indian-American, has been named special agent in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Salt Lake City Field Office.

According to an FBI press statement, Sinha has been named to the position by FBI Director Christopher Wray.

Sinha most recently worked at FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC as an executive special assistant to the Director. In 2001, she became a special agent with the FBI. She began her career at the Milwaukee Field Office, where she focused on counterterrorism investigations.

Shohini Sinha also worked as a temporary employee at the Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, the FBI Legal Attaché Office in London, and the Baghdad Operations Centre.

Sinha was promoted to supervisory special agent and posted to Washington, DC’s Counterterrorism Division in 2009.

According to the FBI, she was the programme manager of Canada-based extraterritorial investigations and handled liaison efforts with Canadian liaison officers in Washington, DC.

Sinha was elevated to assistant legal attaché in Ottawa, Canada, in 2012, where she worked on counterterrorism issues with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

She was elevated to field supervisor in the Detroit Field Office in 2015, where she commanded teams charged with researching international terrorism.

Sinha was transferred to the cyber intrusion squad in early 2020, where she worked on both national security and criminal cyber intrusion cases.

Later that year, in 2020, she was promoted to assistant special agent in charge of national security and, later, criminal investigations at the Portland Field Office.

She was appointed as the FBI Director’s executive special assistant in 2021.

Sinha worked as a therapist and later as an administrator for a private, non-profit clinic in Lafayette, Indiana before joining the FBI.

According to the official statement, she graduated from Purdue University in Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in mental health counselling.
