Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Reform Initiatives

Saudi Arabia, traditionally known for its conservatism, has been experiencing a period of remarkable change under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aged 38, who is known for his fondness for video games such as ‘Call of Duty.’

The Crown Prince, often seen in traditional Arab attire with a full-faced beard and sandals, has been instrumental in steering the kingdom towards a more progressive path. Historically characterized by stringent social and religious regulations, Saudi Arabia has seen significant relaxation of these constraints in recent years.

Notably, women have been granted newfound freedoms, including the right to drive, attend mixed-gender events, and apply for passports without male guardianship. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia has made concessions in its strict alcohol prohibition, permitting non-Muslim diplomats to purchase alcoholic beverages. These reforms have garnered global attention, marking a transformative period for the kingdom.
