Russian Strike Kills 8 In Zelensky’s Hometown, Ukraine

On Wednesday, authorities said that a Russian strike on President Volodymyr Zelensky’s hometown in southern Ukraine killed eight people and wounded almost two dozen more.

The Ukrainian leader shared video footage from the attack site in Kryvyi Rig (Zelensky’s Hometown), showing rescue personnel searching for survivors as smoke billowed from a demolished structure.

Interior Minister Igor Klymenko stated, “The death count has risen to eight people”.

“At least 21 people were wounded, including two children. Another four people are missing”, Klymenko added.

Zelensky urged Ukraine’s allies to step up deliveries of modern aerial batteries to ward off Russian aerial attacks.

“Modern air defence systems can provide maximum protection for people, our cities, and our positions”, Zelensky continued.

Zelensky went on to say, “And we need them as much as possible”.

Kryvyi Rig, which had a pre-war population of approximately 635,000, has been targeted by Russian forces throughout the Kremlin-led invasion, which began in February 2022.

Kryvyi Rig is located in the industrial Dnipropetrovsk region where officials stated that three civilians, including a 13-year-old child, were injured in a Russian drone strike overnight.
