Russia announced on Wednesday that it destroyed 20 Ukrainian missiles launched over the Black Sea and the Crimea peninsula, which Moscow has occupied.
The Russian defence ministry tweeted, “Air defence on duty destroyed 17 Ukrainian missiles over the Black Sea and another three over the Crimea peninsula”.
The government stated that missile debris fell near Lyubimovka, a northern neighbourhood of Sevastopol.
Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Moscow-installed governor of Sevastopol, had stated that air defence was in operation over the city.
He went on to say that debris fell around Federovskaya Street in the private sector, but there were no casualties. The street is on the outskirts of Sevastopol.
Razvozhayev later stated that the attack destroyed garden allotments but no people were injured.
He urged the port’s population to remain calm.
Sevastopol is home to Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, which has been repeatedly targeted by Ukrainian attacks during Moscow’s nearly two-year war.
