The local resistance committee of a village in central Sudan inform of 40 civilians dying in a paramilitary Rapid Support forces Attack.

“An RSF attack on Gouz Al-Naqa village of Abu Gouta area in Gezira State killed at least 40 civilians,” Abu Gouta Resistance Committee, a non-governmental group, said in a statement.

Several bodies remain exposed in Gouz Al-Naqa village as the RSF blocks displaced villagers from returning to bury the dead, according to Xinhua news agency. The Abu Gouta Resistance Committee has urged civil society organizations to pressure the RSF to allow residents access for burials.

The RSF has not yet responded to the attack. The group seized control of Gezira State in December 2023 following the withdrawal of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) from Wad Madani, the state’s capital.

Since April 15, 2023, Sudan has been in a violent conflict between the SAF and the RSF, leading to at least 16,650 deaths and displacing millions of people.
