Russia said NO to Pakistan on discounted oil rates
Pakistan’s oil interest has failed badly. It did not hesitate to ask for the same discount India is getting on oil, which was straight forward refused by Russia. Citing existing contracts with large buyers, Russian officials refuse to give Pakistan same oil discount.
Though just to save the face, Pakistan claims that it got a discount from Russia. Nevertheless it failed to specify the rate at which the oil was offered to the south Asian country. Whereas media reports clearly say that Moscow ha refused to offer Pakistan the same rate at which it sells oil to India.
In spite of persistent requests made by Shehbaz Sharif, Vladimir Putin refused to sell discounted crude oil to Pakistan at the same rates on which the commodity is being sold to India, over which Russia cites existing contracts with its big buyers.
lately occurred in this development during a meet in Moscow, where Pakistani representatives Minister of State (Petroleum division) Musadik Malik along with and Capt (retd), petroleum secretary Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Mahmood met Russian officials, this failed negotiation again proved debilitated global stature of Pakistan
Surging Russia’s oil exports to India is the outcome of the Ukraine war, where in its aftermath Moscow emerged as the largest oil contributor to India for around two consecutive months starting October 2022. As per the reports, India is now exploring options to become a global hub for exporting Russian oil to other countries including Bangladesh.
In its discussions with Central Asian countries as well as Russia, India frequently discusses ways to boost the capabilities of the INSTC being a viable Eurasian region transport corridor.
Significantly for India, in accordance with the reports, the Russian side also did not express interest in the Russia-Pakistan proposed oil pipeline project. Pakistan is left with looking for other options to better its relations with Russia keeping in view its multilevel global interests.
