On Saturday, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer assured President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that British backing for Ukraine’s war with Russia remains unshakable.
In a response tweet to the Ukrainian President, Keir Starmer tweeted, “Ukraine’s ongoing fight against Russian aggression matters to all of us”, through his official ‘X’ handle.
UK PM went on to say, “The UK’s support remains unshakable. I look forward to seeing President @ZelenskyyUa soon.”
Earlier, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had congratulated Starmer on his election victory. He extended his wishes to social media.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy tweeted, “I was pleased to speak with @Keir_Starmer on the day of his appointment as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom”, through his official ‘X’ handle.
“I congratulated Sir Keir Starmer on his election victory and wished him success in fulfilling the British people’s expectations of the new government”, Zelenskyy continued.
Zelenskyy went on to say, “I am grateful to Prime Minister Starmer for reaffirming the UK’s principled and unwavering support for Ukraine”.
“We coordinated positions ahead of the NATO Summit in Washington and other international events, as well as discussed ways to strengthen our partnership, including the preparation of an unprecedented 100-year partnership agreement between Ukraine and the UK”, Zelenskyy concluded.
During his first few hours as Prime Minister, Starmer had spoken to allies and partners across the world.
“The UK stands ready to continue to work with them to deliver security and growth at home and abroad”, remarked UK Prime Minister.
