PM Modi’s Australia Visit Earns Praise Across Australian Media

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Australia received widespread coverage in the country’s media, with leading publications describing it as a positive development for economic cooperation and bilateral diplomacy.

Australia’s largest nationally distributed newspaper, The Australian, termed the visit a good sign for the economy and diplomacy. It said the timing of the visit, coinciding with China’s missile firing in the South Pacific, underscored the importance of deepening ties with India, noting New Delhi’s long experience in dealing with Chinese strategic challenges.

The publication also highlighted agreements reached during the visit, including progress on trade, defence cooperation, a uranium deal and an investment treaty.

Melbourne’s Herald Sun likened PM Modi to a Marvel superhero, highlighting the enthusiastic reception by a crowd of around 35,000 people at Marvel Stadium.

The newspaper also reported discussions between PM Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on defence cooperation and uranium agreements.

The Australian Financial Review reported growing interest among Australian universities in establishing campuses in India, stating that another university received approval during the visit, taking the total number of Australian institutions planning campuses in India to eight.

Melbourne-based The Age highlighted efforts by Prime Ministers Anthony Albanese and PM Narendra Modi to accelerate negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), describing the visit as another step towards strengthening economic and strategic relations between the two countries.
