PM Modi Urges Immediate De-Escalation In Call With Iranian President

PM Modi had a conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and asked for immediate de-escalation and diplomatic measures to restore regional peace in the Middle East.

PM Modi calls for ‘immediate de-escalation’

Taking to X handle, Prime Minister Modi posted, “Spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail about the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations. Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability.”

US airstrikes target Iranian nuclear sites

After US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, Tehran urged the UN and IAEA to act swiftly.

Iran condemned the strikes as “brutal US aggression” against its peaceful nuclear program.

In an official statement, the ministry said the attacks violated the UN Charter and international law, placing full responsibility on the US for the ‘extremely dangerous consequences’ of what it termed a ‘great crime’.

Israel launches separate strikes on Iranian military sites

The Israeli Defence Forces confirmed airstrikes on military sites in western Iran.

The IAF struck Iranian missile launchers and personnel after Iran’s missile attack on Israel, according to a social media post.

Iran reportedly launched over 30 ballistic missiles at Israel on Sunday, prompting the IDF’s retaliatory strikes.

Israel called its strikes a pre-emptive move to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons—an allegation Iran denies.
