PM Modi Receives Enthusiastic Welcome As ‘Modi-Modi’ Chants Fill The Air In Male

Chants of ‘Modi, Modi’ and ‘Narendra Modi zindabad’ echoed through the streets of Male as thousands turned out to greet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Acknowledging the overwhelming enthusiasm, Modi waved to the cheering crowd before inaugurating the newly constructed Maldives Ministry of Defence building with President Mohamed Muizzu, marking a significant moment in India-Maldives relations.

A Grand Reception in Male

The Maldivian capital came alive with excitement as residents lined the streets to welcome the Indian Prime Minister. The vibrant chants captured the warmth and goodwill between the two nations, setting the tone for a visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties.

The inauguration of the new Ministry of Defence building was the highlight of the event. Dominated by a striking giant portrait of PM Modi, the structure stood as a visual emblem of the growing partnership.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “President Muizzu and I inaugurated a new building of the Ministry of Defence in Malé. This is yet another instance of strong India-Maldives cooperation.”

The event underscored India’s role as a key partner to the Maldives in areas such as defence and security. The presence of both leaders and the overwhelming public participation reflected the depth of trust and shared vision driving the relationship.

More than a government facility, the Defence Ministry building symbolises mutual respect and collaboration.

The grand welcome, coupled with the iconic portrait, served as a powerful reminder of the strengthening ties and shared aspirations of the two nations.
