PM Anthony Albanese Marries Jodie Haydon In Intimate Ceremony At The Lodge

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese tied the knot with his partner Jodie Haydon on Saturday during an intimate ceremony held at The Lodge in Canberra, becoming the first sitting Australian leader to marry while in office.

In a joint statement, the couple expressed their joy, noting, “We are absolutely delighted to share our love and commitment to spending our future lives together, in front of our family and closest friends.”

Albanese later shared a short clip of the occasion on X, accompanied by the simple caption “Married💍❤️💍.”

A number of prominent figures attended the event, including ministers Penny Wong, Mark Butler, Katy Gallagher, Don Farrell, Tony Burke, Richard Marles, Jim Chalmers, Tim Ayres and Jenny McAllister, along with New South Wales MPs John Graham and Jo Haylen.

Opposition Leader Sussan Ley also offered her congratulations, telling The Sydney Morning Herald that she wished the couple every happiness as they continued their life together.

The ceremony marked another landmark moment in what has been a momentous year for Albanese, following his sweeping election victory that delivered Labour 94 lower house seats.

Haydon has been a familiar presence alongside Albanese at major events for several years, including throughout the 2022 federal campaign and again during the party’s strong performance earlier this May.

During his election night speech, Albanese publicly thanked Haydon for her steadfast support, remarking that the changes in her life over recent years remain unexpected.

He spoke of her friendship, her love, and the happiness she brings him, declaring his hopes for their future together.

This is the Prime Minister’s second marriage. His previous union with former New South Wales politician Carmel Tebbutt ended in 2019 after 19 years.
