Moments After Becoming Engaged, Turkish Woman Slips and Dies

Yesim Demir, 39, stumbled and fell 100 feet to her death seconds after becoming engaged.

On July 6, the woman was celebrating her engagement with her boyfriend Nizamettin Gursu at Polente Cape in northwestern Turkey when she tragically went from a sharp cliff.

Mr. Gursu had recently proposed to Ms. Demir and had decided to celebrate the engagement with food and drinks while watching the sunset.

The man had returned to their car to get a picnic when he heard a scream. When the man rushed back to the cliffside location, he realized his new fiancee had tumbled off the cliff.

According to reports, Ms. Demir survived the 100 feet plunge but died as a result of her injuries.

The bereaved man later told local media that the couple had chosen the location because they thought it would be romantic.

“We chose it to have a romantic memory after the proposal. We drank some alcohol. Everything happened at once. She lost her balance and fell down”, he explained.

The authorities promptly shut down the area and launched an investigation.

“This is a place where everyone comes and watches the sunset”, Ms. Demir’s pals said.

“However, the roads are very bad and there is no precaution on the edge of the cliff. A fence should be drawn here, precautions should be taken”, they added.
