Indonesia lifts tsunami alert after powerful undersea quake
After an earthquake of a 7.7 magnitude hit the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan this evening, there were strong tremors that lasted for several seconds and were felt in various north Indian states late on Tuesday.
The countries that were affected by the earthquake were Turkmenistan, India, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan. Afghanistan’s Kalafgan is thought to be 90 kilometres from the epicentre.
Earthquake tremors were felt in Delhi for the third time in a month. Its magnitude was measured at 6.5
Videos posted to social media show crowds gathered in the streets, while residents of those homes reported debris falling inside.
Since the earthquake tremors lasted for many seconds in the northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Punjab, people ran for their lives.
