Marco Rubio Signals India Visit After Talks With Vikram Misri

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has signalled a potential visit to India next month following a ‘productive’ meeting with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, highlighting growing cooperation between the two nations.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor noted that the discussions centred on key areas of the bilateral relationship, including trade, defence, critical minerals, and the Quad framework. He added that Rubio is keen to advance high-level engagement with India in the near future.

The meeting, held at the White House, formed the focal point of Misri’s Washington visit and underscored increasing strategic alignment between India and the United States across economic and security domains.

In a separate engagement, Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau met Misri and reaffirmed the strong partnership between the two countries.

According to Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, both sides also exchanged views on developments in the Persian Gulf and other global priorities.

Regional security, particularly in West Asia, featured prominently in the discussions, reflecting shared concerns amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Vikram Misri also met Allison Hooker to review progress in India–US ties and discuss West Asia and other key issues.

In talks with Jacob Helberg, both sides agreed to expand cooperation in emerging areas such as AI and critical minerals under initiatives like Pax Silica.

Misri further engaged with Washington’s strategic community, discussing the future of India–US relations and global challenges related to energy, food, and economic security.
