External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on Wednesday. They discussed measures to expand the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Singapore.
The Ministers reviewed the international situation and shared their perspectives on major geopolitical developments.
Jaishankar said the discussions covered several aspects of the bilateral relationship and welcomed Balakrishnan’s views on the changing global landscape. He further said he expected to continue the dialogue during the upcoming India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable.
Jaishankar and Balakrishnan jointly laid the foundation stone for a new Chancery complex for the High Commission of India in Singapore.
Jaishankar said the proposed facility would represent the changing nature of the India-Singapore partnership and enhance services available to the Indian diaspora.
The External Affairs Minister reached Singapore on Tuesday ahead of the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR).
The Ministry of External Affairs said the fourth edition of the Ministerial Roundtable will take place in Singapore on Thursday.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State Jitin Prasada will join Jaishankar in representing India at the meeting.
The ISMR provides both countries with a platform to advance cooperation in emerging and priority sectors.
India and Singapore launched the mechanism in New Delhi in September 2022 and subsequently held the second edition in Singapore in August 2024.
The two sides conducted the third roundtable in New Delhi in August 2025.
The Ministerial discussions have previously addressed areas including advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digital technology, healthcare, medicine, skill development and sustainability.
Both countries use these discussions to shape their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Roadmap. India and Singapore unveiled the roadmap during Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s visit to India in September 2025.
The latest meeting is expected to expand cooperation across these sectors and create new avenues for closer India-Singapore engagement.
