Israeli Airstrikes Kill Thirteen In Lebanon, Injure Five

Thirteen people were killed and five others injured on Monday as a result of Israeli airstrikes targeting towns and villages in Lebanon, according to military and medical sources in the country.

Lebanese military officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported that Israeli warplanes and drones conducted 11 airstrikes across eight locations. In addition to aerial bombardments, heavy artillery fire struck 12 towns and villages throughout Lebanon.

The casualties included two individuals killed in the village of Ansar, four in Kafr Kila, and six in the town of Maaraboun. Furthermore, one person was killed and another wounded in Seddiqine, while four individuals were injured in Sarbin. All reported casualties were civilians.

Rescue teams from the Civil Defence and the Lebanese Red Cross worked to transport the deceased and injured to hospitals in the cities of Tyre and Nabatieh, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

In response to the airstrikes, Hezbollah released statements indicating that its Islamic Resistance fighters targeted Israeli military positions, launching rockets at the Zebdine barracks in the occupied Shebaa Farms, as well as Israeli soldiers in the villages of Labbouneh and Markaba, and a gathering point in Khallet Wardeh, Lebanon.

The recent escalation comes after a series of intense air attacks by the Israeli army on Lebanon, which began on September 23. Tensions have surged since October 8, 2023, as Hezbollah and Israeli forces have engaged in cross-border exchanges of fire.
