Israeli Airstrike In Damascus Kills Seven Civilians

An Israeli airstrike hit a residential building in the Mazzeh neighborhood of Damascus on Tuesday night, killing 7 civillians, including women and children. Additionally, 11 others were injured, as per the Syrian Defence Ministry.

The attack occurred around 8:15 PM local time. Three missiles were launched from the direction of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, the ministry reported. The strike caused extensive damage, particularly to a 14-floor building in the Sheikh Sa’ad area, a busy residential and commercial hub.

Emergency responders informed that three floors of the building were completely destroyed. Rescue efforts are ongoing as workers search for survivors and additional casualties.

Reacting to the attack, the Syrian Foreign Ministry condemned the attack. Foreign Ministry called Damascus attack, a “brutal crime” and a “grave violation” of international law. The ministry stated, “This brutal crime against unarmed civilians is a continuation of the genocide committed by this occupying entity against Palestinians and Lebanese.”

Notably, this marks the first time the Sheikh Sa’ad area has been directly targeted by an Israeli strike. The Syrian government has urged immediate international action to prevent further “criminal behavior” by Israel.
