Iran’s ‘Illegal’ Airstrike Claims Lives of Innocent Children In PAK, Sparks Diplomatic Tensions

Iran launched illegal airstrikes on Pakistan. Consequently, it led to the tragic death of two children and left three girls injured, according to Pakistan’s foreign ministry. Additionally, Tehran’s top diplomat was summoned to Islamabad to protest the “unprovoked violation of its airspace.”

Although the official statement did not specify the location of the airstrike, reports on Pakistani social media pointed to explosions in Balochistan province. This region shares a sparsely populated border of nearly 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) between Iran and Pakistan.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry expressed strong condemnation, calling the violation of its sovereignty “completely unacceptable” and warning of potential serious consequences. The airstrike, which occurred late Tuesday, led to the unfortunate loss of two innocent children’s lives and injuries to three girls.

As of now, there has been no immediate comment from Iran. Tensions between Tehran and Islamabad often involve accusations of allowing militants to operate from each other’s territory, but direct engagement by official forces is rare.

The foreign ministry expressed heightened concern, emphasizing the airstrike’s illegality despite the existence of multiple communication channels between the two countries. Pakistan has consistently highlighted the shared threat of terrorism in the region, emphasizing the need for coordinated action.

The ministry concluded by stating that such unilateral acts are not in line with good neighbourly relations and have the potential to seriously undermine bilateral trust and confidence. The incident raises questions about the impact on the already delicate relationship between Iran and Pakistan.
