Iran has fiercely condemned the recent US airstrikes on its nuclear facilities, calling them a “brutal military aggression” and a blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter.
The Iranian government has urged the UN and IAEA to take immediate and decisive action.
Iran accused the US of committing a ‘great crime’ by targeting its peaceful nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
The ministry stated, “This act is a flagrant and unprecedented violation of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and international law.”
It held the US “warmongering and law-breaking government” responsible for the consequences.
Iran alleged that the US coordinated the attack with what it termed the ‘genocidal Zionist regime’ of Israel.
It said the strikes came on day ten of Israeli attacks, blaming a joint effort by the US and Israel to escalate tensions.
Moreover, Iran accused the US of violating the UN Charter and Resolution 2231, which underpins the 2015 nuclear deal.
Iran reiterated that its nuclear facilities remain under IAEA safeguards and serve only peaceful purposes.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran recognises its right to resist with full force against US military aggression and to defend its national security and interests,” the ministry declared.
The war-hit country has called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
It has urged the IAEA Board of Governors to address the attacks urgently.
The ministry accused IAEA chief Rafael Grossi of bias and enabling the strikes.
Iran concluded by accusing the US of disregarding international rules to serve the interests of a “genocidal and occupying regime.”
